While I'm telling you about Christmas decorations with meaning/stories...
Here is another one we have had for many years & if no other decorations get put up, this one surely does... Santa was given to us by our families friends, Gloria & Bruce...
Isn't it a lovely way to remember folks that you don't get to see all that often now. They have a very special place in our family especially when we were still bringing up our kids.
Santa [sorry photo not too good but you get the idea...] has a crocheted thread from his hat that holds all the Christmas cards... I got my Mum to extend his cord one year - he hangs in our kitchen.
I will have to try & work out a pattern for him this year as it looks rather simple - I think... ha ha... famous last words I guess... but I will try before I pack him away...
Angel Messages...
Self-righteousness & prejudice will not afford you real insight into the matter.

My girlfriend has been to sleepover at our place this w/e... it wasn't all play as she had to work during the three days... but t'was so great to catch-up on girly talk & the like in the evening...

We both did a bit of crochet while we chattered...

What a laugh this morning when I went looking for my glasses...

ummm which ones will I take??? there were only the two of us but, L forgot her glasses so she had to try a few pairs of mine out before she found... just the right pair...
We did seem to solve all the problems of our worlds so that means we had a good time... thanks L for the visit...
You are protected this very moment,
always & forever.
Take comfort in this

Well you can see by the lovely new leaf on one of my ferns that nature is doing it's thing here without me keeping up with it all... in other words life is passing me by...
well... not really... have been doing 'some' de-cluttering... [that means not a lot but trying...]
I got a fair bit done before my friend Jean arrived but been a bit slack on it since she has gone home...
We had a great week together.. gave all the 'good' shops a good going over... also did the coffee shop 'thing'... think I've got her lovin' frappe's now... I know I'm hooked on 'em...
We got & did some Stampscapes stamping, and then we crocheted flowers... sorry no cards to show said flowers on cards... me t'ink we did too much shopping... ha ha
We also got to visit with these lovely ladies as well... the time was all gone before we knew it & now it's already been a week since Jean has left... Ohhhhhhh dear
I have been doing my share of crochet here & there... really need to focus on finishing some now... too many projects on the go is no good for me... I'll be back where I was years ago with way toooo many WIP...
Lesson learnt the hard way... 'stay on track'... 'stay focused'...
I'm really getting into the Christmas mode & found Sarah London is having a great fun time over on her blog... 'the mystery Christmas crochet project'... of course, I have joined in the fun too...
Started with one colour green - loved the yarn, didn't love the colour, so went searching in my 'old' stash [shhhh... I know... I really do have an old & a 'new' stash but, we'll keep Mum about it OK!!!]
Anyway I found a more suitable green [it's just so hard to believe that there are so many different greens around at the mo...] so am madly playing catch-up... go on over & have a look-see, maybe you would like to join in too... Sarah has lots of photos so you would have no trouble playing...
Focus on the challenge in hand.
As you sincerely & diligently carry out your task,
it will change in the process.
[I just want to say that the Angle Messages are picked randomly,
like, I just let the book open itself to a page...
just blows me away the messages they keeps puttin' out there for me...]

Last week was a week of anniversaries - some good, some bad but still they happened in our lives & need to be faced/realised. Thursday 11 Sept. - last Thursday is always a day that will be remembered for as long as the world exists, I truly believe, 9/11 as many know it as & everyone you talk to, in the world will be able to tell you exactly what they were doing at the time they first heard it announced ... Me... I was recovering from live-saving major surgery when I first saw it on the TV - the wardsman asked me to have a look at the day's news & then asked what did I see ... 'Ohh it's just an add. for some horrible movie that must be coming' - he then asked me to explain what I had seen ... & that was the plane going into the second tower... he said leave it on Love, cause it is true... this is what has happened this day - you will never forget when you had your op'. The day the world changed forever ...
So here we are seven years later - I'm well but I know there are some people in the world that will never be the same again who were affected by such tragedy... still I must celebrate my wellness to stay positive. Also this date came into my life again as an important date the next year, 2002 - that was the day we left our home of 32+years for the last time - where we had brought up our children & they were now out in the world doing their own memory making. It was time for us to move on, a decision that we have embraced & love our new home.
It makes me sad that when you do move like that that sometimes things change that you don't expect & I think for me that was, I found who my friends were ... you know the ones that you don't have to see each & every week but when you do it was just like yesterday that you were sitting on the back veranda sharing your thoughts/dreams - you will always stay in contact with even if it's only Christmas-time. I've come to realise that I had a big network of acquaintances who I had mistaken for good friends & I think this has been the biggest learning curve for me & as Christmas approaches I've decided as this will be our 6th Christmas here in our new/retirement home that I'll only be sending Christmas cards to my 'friends' - yes this makes me a bit sad as I do love catching up on what's happening in everybodies lives but there comes a time when it's not reciprocated - it's time to move on - gosh, it's not like we are, any of us, too old yet... it's like the email that gets sent around from time to time about being friends for a reason, a season or a lifetime ... just a matter of course I suppose. September must be a time of reflection ... I wonder...
I got to go down memory lane again this week - I was out doing my walk & look what I found??? Do you grow these where you live? Mulberries lovely big fat juicy ones, at that ... you can see I've had a taste test too by my fingers. Ohhh I can hear Mum now rousing at me for getting the juice all over my clothes [mulberries aren't something that comes out in the wash...] I can also hear her saying 'You haven't been eating those mulberries have you? you won't want to eat your tea tonight?' Of course you say 'No Mum' but then she asks how did you get that stain in & out of your mouth ... Sprung... ha ha
For those that read this that might not know, Mulberries are a fruit that you eat when they are that dark black sortta colour & can be eaten raw or cooked in water with some sugar to have as a sweet/dessert. We used to have it with creamed rice, baked custard, junket [ha ha remember the old junket tablets?] or with ice cream - the juice could be thickened with arrowroot [flour] cause it kept the liquid clear or was it cornflour? ha ha now I've got you guessing ...
P.S. I remember when we were first married, my sister had a tree that I used to pick from every few days ... they preserve well mulberries but I used to cook them up but I got lazy & hated cutting the little stalks off each berry - must remember Mum had the special old pair of scissors that did this job so well - so I cooked them stalk & all ... no problem really but when DH ate them he would line all the stalks up around the edge of the plate - do you think he was trying to tell me something? ... well I wasn't using the only pair of scissors I had they were my dressmaking scissors & definitely not for cutting stalks off ... lol

Friends & Friendship Banner...

Boy what a great week it has been ... I have had my friend Jean staying with me this week ... we have done shops over but sadly it's me spending not Jean as she has to watch what she buys as she is flying but never mind I've been able to get lots of great bargains so I'm feeling rather chaffed.
We had a couple of our friends [L & J] from the Gold Coast join us on my back patio on Fri for a day of show & tell, swapping ideas in our art/craft worlds, eating & drinking [only tea & coffee]. Whenever I go to Missy L. place she always has a little project for us to do so I had to rattle the old grey matter to come up with something different that we could do.I had seen a banner swap on a blogspot during the week when Jean & I were doing some surfing so thought that would be something nice to do to remember our day spent together and to make it more personal I would get my DH to take our photo and I would edit & print it up on some material to add to our banner project. It was a lot of fun and the four banners were all so very different and we all loved doing it. Here is mine all finished and when the other girls finish theirs and if they let me, I will either post their blogs or their banners for you to have a gander at. I can't believe it but Jean is back at her own home again - I do so miss her as it's just so nice to have another woman around the house to talk to & share our craft interests. Jean please don't leave it another year before we can get together again...
